Comet is Perplexity's web browser with an AI assistant built into the side of every page. It is free for everyone. Iris lives in more places than the browser: your phone, your Mac, your tv and your mail, and it can work in Chrome too, with a side panel of its own.
Where Comet is strong
Comet is great at the web: it summarises an article or a video in a click, compares tabs, answers questions with sources, and can click through a site for you. If you spend your day in a browser and want answers right next to the page, it is a very good free tool.
Beyond the browser
Iris is not a browser, and you do not have to switch to one. It works in your mail, calendar and messages, on your Mac with its own pill, on your iPhone with a talk button, and on your tv. In Chrome, its extension adds a side panel to talk to Iris, and while it is open Iris can read, click and type in that tab.
Safer with logins and payments
Acting on websites means handling passwords and cards. Iris keeps them in its own vault, fills them in without ever seeing them, and asks for your okay with Face ID or Touch ID before it signs in or pays. The extension also fills in two-factor codes and passkeys from the vault.
One assistant that knows you
Iris keeps one memory of you across every device, talks with a voice of its own, and runs in its own sealed-off space in Europe, with a log of everything it does.
