Iris vs Claude
Claude, made by Anthropic, is one of the best AI models for writing, reasoning and code, with apps on the web, desktop and phone. Iris is a personal assistant built around a different question: not how good the answer is, but whether the errand gets done, in your own mail, calendar, messages and devices.
Where Claude is strong
Claude is excellent at long documents, careful writing, analysis and programming. Projects keep files and instructions together, Artifacts turn answers into documents and small apps, and on the desktop Claude Code and Cowork can work with files on your computer. Paid plans start at $20 a month for Pro, with Max at $100 or $200 (September 2026).
If most of your day is thinking, writing or building software, Claude is a strong choice, and Iris does not try to replace it.
Where Iris is different
Iris is made to act on your behalf in your personal life. It reads and sorts your inbox, drafts replies, finds a time and books it, pays for the train tickets and puts tomorrow on the tv. You talk to it like a person: it listens while it speaks, stops when you cut in, and answers in a voice it picked itself.
Before anything that counts, such as paying, sending or signing in, it asks for your okay with Face ID on your iPhone or Touch ID on your Mac. Each approval covers exactly one action.

Every Iris account gets its own sealed-off assistant with its own memory and files, running on servers in Europe and shared with no one. Passwords and cards live in a vault that the assistant uses without ever seeing the value. Everything it does is written to a log you can read.

Is Iris built on Claude?
Iris is its own product, made by Woodst B.V. in the Netherlands. It uses large language models from several providers to understand and write, and adds what it needs to act safely for you: your accounts, a vault, approvals and a log.
Can I use Claude and Iris together?
Yes. Many people keep Claude for writing, research and code, and let Iris take care of the mail, the agenda and the errands that follow.
Which one is better for coding?
Claude. Claude Code is built for software work. Iris can build its own screens and plugins, but it is a personal assistant first, not a coding tool.
